Except Trump is managing to do this sober. Ford at least had the excuse of being an alcoholic crack addict.
I know that is the standard narrative, but wouldnât everything make more sense if he was a blow fiend/tweaker?
Holy smokes, what a mess . . . I mean itâs awful, and how can it be this screwed up before he even gets in there, but I canât help laughing all the same.
âAccording to several sources close to the Trump transition team and inside the Obama administration, the president elect and his staff have had difficulty finding able-minded Republicans willing to take on critical posts. One Democratic source, who like others would only discuss sensitive talks on condition of anonymity, said transition officials had been informally asking Obama political appointees to recommend Republicans to take over their jobs.â
Asking people to pick their replacements before being fired.
Yep.
Zero doubt that Trump originated from the corporate world.
Oh! And apparently he hasnât talked to the Department of Defense at all yet? Putin yes, Pentagon no.
Hmmm.
Seems like ditching Secret Service would be a bad idea, especially for someone so polarizing.
And all to go get steak?
HmmmmâŠ
I am making myself crazy with this stuff, but I canât look away. Hereâs a stitching-together of a string of tweets by @JamesFallows of the Atlantic:
For perspective on transition chaos: In ânormalâ circs, teams have been at work for months. Ready as soon as POTUS-elect recovers from campaign strain, to consider
(a) biggest choices to make, in order of urgency;
(b) most promising candidates in each Dept;
© priorities in first 100 days, first year, etc;
(d) msgs for other countries;
(e) lessons-of-history on opportunities and pitfallsâŠ
and (f) anything else that can help with the by-definition-overwhelming task of becoming president.
Seems to be ZERO of this for DJT.
When people who know this world talk about unbelievable, clownish ignorance and incompetence, this is the sort of thing they have in mind.
God save us all.
The end.
The petty and snide part of me canât help but feel some malicious glee that their cracks are already showing in the first week, and that no one really wants to work with DJTâs team.
Color me shocked.
Circa 1999?
Trippy
The vindictive bullying of Chris Christie is never not funny, either.
Canât say I have much sympathy for him either.
I know opponents within Washington must be looking at all this chaos already and strategizing about how to use it to their advantage.
Just wait until he finishes with Christie and moves on to the public humiliation of Reince Priebus.
Itâs the only silver lining in this, really.
The hypocrisy is staggering. The President Elect has publically stated on previous occasions that insurrection is the right thing to do for this very scenario:
I do agree with you that people are much better off protesting actual actions. I do think that protesting elections, the office in question, and even the legitimacy of the state can be legitimate positions. Although I donât think thereâs a good case to be made for that here. Honestly, if Trumpâs term started with martial law and civil war, that alone would be enough to start him as the least popular president ever. As well as preventing his people from getting anything else done.
Brings back memories
NPR just had a guy on to defend Bannon. He called the Code Switch segments racist after defending an article about the confederate flag that was full of racist lies.
Interesting fact: there has been at least one assassination attempt on every president since Nixon.
I donât know how âinterestingâ that is, per se.
Got a name for someone who has made an attempt on Obama?
Because somehow, I missed it.
Please God, yes; let that happen.
Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez?
