Texas has been one of the only states the GOP is consistently losing control of. The more extreme Trump and the GOP gets the more ground it will lose here, and the 2018 election is quickly looking to be more important than the 2016 election.
Nowās the time to promote those populists locally and get them into sight of running for federal office.

Politico are suggesting (and I believe it) that the reason Romney, Cruz etc are being asked to meet with Trump is so they can ask for something and he can say no to them.
