There’s pain here. He’s confused. He’s cleaned up so there’s probably someone taking care of him - maybe someone who knew him during better times. Time and decay. It’s sad.

I have a close friend whose father, once a brilliant man, is going through Alzheimer’s now. He’s occasionally lucid, but less and less every day. It’s hard to see.
Been there.
