The Egyptians figured it out earlier…and the number they came up with is scarily accurate.
“Geometry” means “to measure the Earth.”

Are you sure this isn’t what you are thinking of? I don’t remember any estimates of the circumference before Eratosthenes, who lived in Egypt.
If you go fishing for fuckwits, a school of Repugnicans will jump right into the boat.
somehow i get the feeling she sees globes everywhere, because she eats globuli by the pound (which would be one of the rare effects they have)
I gotta say, when I was in school, I would have been in favor of that ban. Lol.
Calculus and I had a terrible relationship.
The funny thing about conspiracy theories is that the bigger they are, you’re expecting that we’re to accept vast, VAST numbers of people being in on it.
Confucius says… Whaaaaaaa???
With people like this supporting him, it’s less surprising that Trump would have demanded a Georgian GOPer that he needs to find 11,000 more votes. Because this is the kind of deluded moron that would not only believe him, but would make any random shit up just to appease him.
Of course I’m stereotyping here. It’s just the 99% of idiots in the GOP always seems to tarnish the image of the other 1%.
Apparently she’s on the school board in her county. So I’m guessing she goes into multiple schools with some frequency. That seems like a reasonable explanation why she frequently sees Earth globes. So a member of the school board is outraged that classrooms have… globes.
Somebody better count the globes in her school district. Because they may be about to get Georgia Guidestoned.

The politics of right-wing Hindu nationalism (Hindutva) that seek to make the Indian state adopt policies that recall and glorify Hindu cultural history and heritage of India at the expense of other religious traditions.
The same episode of Jesus, Guns, and Babies from a timeline next door:
"… Everywhere I go, every store, you buy a globe, there’s globes everywhere - every movie, every TV show, news media, why?..holy shit… I just realised there’s people in every movie, every TV show, every store, news media. Why are you pushing people so hard… Oh my god, people aren’t real! But I’m people, am I not real… " [Jesus, Guns and Babies is discontinued as Kandiss Taylor is paralysed by an existential crisis, and slowly wastes away because she doesn’t believe enough in her own reality to eat.]
A couple of timelines further over, things get even weirder and there’s a Kandiss-varient with critical thinking skills who is actually a productive member of her society.
Not burdened by an overabundance of schooling, is she? How does she manage to walk and talk at the same time?
Your picture, it needs more elephants and turtles.
You know she thinks that integration is an attack on the purity of the white race.
@dabeyc I so wanted to say that! That sums this up perfectly.
I wouldn’t be so bothered by this; in fact I’d either be equal parts amused and sympathetic.
But this person is trying to be in a position of governmental power and suddenly it isn’t so benign and that is disturbing to me. She can be a flat-earther and contain that to her own sphere (sorry) of influence and that’s great! But this isn’t what’s happening here.
I know many of the regulars here state that “sunshine is the best disinfectant” and that we should redouble our efforts. I’ve lurked around here long enough to see that & I agree, but it is stories like this that make it so very difficult to keep the proverbial stiff upper lip.
I’m so very weary.
There’s always a relevant one.
