Trump endorsing the losing candidate in this primary race could be good news for two reasons:
- If the Trump-backed candidate gets creamed then it sends a signal to the GOP that embracing Trumpism isn’t necessarily a winning election strategy anymore.
- Trump’s continued attacks on Kemp could depress Republican turnout in the general election and help Stacy Abrams get the much-deserved win she was robbed of last time around.

So we’ve gone from “there was massive voter fraud in the 2020 election … but only in these four states … and only with respect to the vote for the presidency, and no other votes on the same ballot … and only in counties where Trump lost” to “there was massive voter fraud … but only in the 2024 primary … and only in Georgia … and only for the Republican candidate … and only for the office of governor … and only in counties where Perdue lost.”

Ugh, Perdue really is even worse than Kemp. He’s calling for Abrams to “go back to where you came from” even though she’s lived in Georgia since childhood. I’m surprised he didn’t just call her a “carpetbagger” out loud.

We can expect this from the MAGAts from now on; it they lose, claim fraud, demand endless recounts, sue, sue, sue again, Due to all the MAGAt judges You Know Who installed, a sutprising number of elections will be put in limbo.
That might be the best-case general scanario; that all the claims of fraud cause the MAGAts to believe their own bullshit & stay home on Election Day.

I’ll say this for Trump and Perdue and their kind: detecting voter fraud can be a lengthy, complicated business involving detailed investigations and expert scrutiny. And most of the time, it entirely fails to show any kind of significant fraud at all. But they’ve substituted all that with a simple, definitive test that can be applied even by non-experts: did the frothingly-insane would-be autocrat win? No fraud. Did they lose? Conclusive proof of massive voter fraud.
It’s this kind of unambiguous decision procedure that we really need in these difficult times, and the savings in terms of both time and money are likely to be considerable. Well done, Mr. Trump and Mr. Perdue. A grateful nation thanks you.
