Go and vote

My own Mayflower ancestor would be utterly horrified by Donald Trump. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Fuller_(Pilgrim)

Though to be fair he’d also probably be horrified by the lack of Puritan state churches.

“If only people with at least 4 grandparents…”

I don’t think I know anyone with more than four grandparents. Is she subtly hinting about the secret reptilian conspiracy here?

They saw the Cubs’ Victory as a sign of the apocalypse but wanted to record their votes for posterity, when the aliens come down to our ravaged planet to research its destruction.

Technically, I had as many as 5 most of my lufe, but the extras were due to divorces and marriages. So not biological. :upside_down_face:

Yay mom! She did it!
Take that, Texas!

Thanks @anon67050589 for your advice. She was very well taken care of.

ETA: She made sure the poll workers knew she hasn’t missed a chance to participate in an election since 1962.

Yeah my daughter has 3 grandfathers living, 2 deceased, and 5 grandmothers and three great-grandmothers living. From divorces and remarriages, both mine and theirs.

And they were all but one born here.

Thank you all. Really.

I’d like to add that I voted today too, but I voted last week (Oregon).

All of mine were born here. I’m at least 4th generation.

Daughter is Mexican on her dad’s side, so bio grampa was in fact not born here. Which I suppose would disqualify her as far as Coulter is concerned, despite my side of the family having been here since the 1600s.

I feel obligated to point out that the election is a carefully staged spectacle designed to distract us from our real power.[/quote]
Not where I live. We have a choice of voting for candidates who hate the common good and believe in sucking resources out of government and rolling society back to the 1950s, and candidates who do not. Of course, I live in the US, you might be somewhere else.

Which part are you asking for a citation of?

My state used to be the same way. I’m not sure when they changed but it quietly changed sometime during the past 16 years. Looks like … 2002. I don’t remember historical law information being such a pain to get at in my state last time I was looking.

I noticed no one helped these folks get provisional ballots. I’m not exactly complaining …

I voted by mail the day before Halloween. My state sends no confirmation or anything (apparently) so I had to keep checking my record on the vote record site. Kind of annoying overall but it’s an improvement over going to the polls for sure.

Get ready to do it again in two years, y’all. And check out absentee/mail-in in your state if they offer it where you live.

I had 10, all dead now.

Edited to add: none due to divorce/remarriage. My family situation is a Gordian Knot!

That feels like it’s from a rap battle.

Bitch, I’m a daughter of the Revolution
So listen up and stop your noise pollution
Starting back when the Mayflower was sailing the seas
I’ve had ancestors here for centuries
While the Drumpfs were still drumpfing it in Germany
And only a fool would think people like me
Would all vote for that awful orange Mussolini

I had zero grandparents born here. I vote because of this, not in spite of it
