Plus, they don’t have to be hard members of an actual group these days. They can self-radicalize online until they finally join an extreme group, or be a “lone nutjob”.

While it’s good that she’s been set free, we should also remember that Boris is the reason that she was held so long in the first place. He talked about her “training journalists” when she was first prevented from leaving, which immediately led to her being treated as a suspected spy.
