My hometown team just won the NCAA Menâs Basketball Championship! Lawrence, Kansas is not in the national news all that often, but for anyone who has ever been there, you know the town deserves it!
ETA: For those who are unfamiliar with Kansas history, the Jayhawks are named after Jayhawkers, who were guerillas fighting to free slaves from the neighboring slave state of Missouri during the Bleeding Kansas years, several years before the Civil War. Itâs a point of pride for Kansans.
