Wow. An amazing moment, and very hard to watch.
Pretty straightforward commonsense talk to my ears. Sucks that it’s seen as some kind of magical moment when for once, a white person thinks, feels and talks like that.
I know plenty of white folks who think and feel that. Not anywhere near enough who say it out loud, especially in front of and to other white folks.
I say it in front of people.
In Texas. Whenever I have the opportunity.
I do believe (because I see this around me) that there are more and more people–especially the younger generations–who believe in solidarity, equity and historical facts living among us than we realize. I thank the public school systems in our country for helping to create this reality. It’s one reason why the GOP (esp in Texas but certainly nationwide) seek to disrupt, defund, destroy K-12 public education.
Many allies are silent, yes.
I sure hope they are doing the work of justice in their own quiet way.
I don’t know how much time I have left before I die, but I am done handling white-adult-fragility with bubblewrap and velvet tongs. As a mixed race person, I know it’s now my time to spend down what I have left in my good karma account.

The Buffalo shooter needed to hear those words, and every sympathizer there and everywhere needed to hear those words.
Let’s normalize that.

Now we start working on addressing all the communities of color that were devastated by highways that were finished!
I do not know if he intended to share it with me, but our 11-yo shared a Google Slides deck titled “The New Chat Room” that is approximately 500 slides long, where each slide is students in his class posting pop culture pictures &/or memes & using the Slides comments to chat with each other about them—I knew that students used this kind of hack to get around school content filters but seeing it in action is something else
The kids are alright.
I know that most people don’t click through on posts (especially Mastodon posts with their terrible, off-putting, confusing onebox).
However, the follow up post on this which contains the 11-yo’s explanation of why they chose this method, with considerations for usability, navigation, and moderation is wonderful!
Definitely click through!
Theyll just start their own religion, with blackjack and hookers!
That was my first thought.
My second thought was Russian Orthodox.
