Mr. Ricardo Medeiros was waiting for a new kidney for more than 9 years.
After all this time, doctors managed to find a compatible donor and Mr. Medeiros should rush to the hospital immediately. The problem is that he was hiking in the Serra dos Órgãos National Park, in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro.
The family managed to notify the doctors and give them his whereabouts. The firefighters were called and Mr. Medeiros was rescued and taken by helicopter to the city of Juiz de Fora, state of Minas Gerais, and finally got his new organ.

This would be so great if they did it in California. Here, they allow folks to buy hot food from designated chain restaurants if they meet certain criteria – kids, homeless, etc., but when you’re getting an average of $250 per person each month, a $12 meal of a Subway sandwich combo or Carl’s Jr. burger combo (even if it’s a one-time celebration), can eat into the budget very quickly.
