…
(Too easy?)
Notice it’s only when he tried scamming the big donors that they even began to care. Fabricating your entire life, in danger of being extradited to Brazil, a complete lack of ethics-no problem. Screw with the cash flow? You’re toast.
What’s amazing about Santos is that it’s been clear for days that he directly grifted the GOP and its donor class and they still can’t decisively turn against him.
If it means maintaining a majority that will keep the tax breaks and deregulation coming, the fat cats and corporations will gladly let fraudsters keep their seats. Getting robbed is considered a cost of doing business.
National Security be damned!
“Does anybody really know who this guy is?” -K. McCarthy (Probably)
One gets the strangest impression that a belief that getting your beak wet is one of the prerogatives of power may be a widely held one within the grand old party; which is complicating their response to an especially entrepreneurial operator.
It made sense when the GOP — given its indifference to ethical behavior — ignored Santos’ many problems when the Speakership turned on a single vote. But once that was behind us — and we learned he’d also ripped off the donor class — there should have been a cloud of smoke where he stood and a big black loafer-print on the rear of his trousers. What could be worth taking on all this baggage? It’s enough to make me wonder. Once investigators into Santos’ campaign finances start turning over rocks, will whatever’s exposed imperil their entire majority when it tries to scurry away?
Yeahhhhhh, they bought a chair, and I doubt they care where the money went. And we can only hope that the chair is in peril, but the wheels of justice are slower than most hamster wheels.
So much going on with Santos…
Undisclosed income from a Ponzi scheme! Looks like it wasn’t just campaign finance laws that got violated.
Also: LOLs
(In case of confusion: not actually his website.)
For some reason, there isn’t a gif of vader saying “All too easy”, so I’ll leave you with this one:
