Again, you misunderstand my argument. Its not that I’m defending him exactly, just saying that, without additional context, this only adds to the anti Trump noise, since its too easily dismissed as a joke. But add the context of the sexual assault allegation, and this could be downright damaging.
But so far at least the sexual assault accusation isn’t mainstream news. I read the New York Times every day, which at the moment is about half dedicated to Donald Trump, but so far there’s not a single mention (that I’ve noticed at least) of the elevating fact in this story, which is that he just might have a history of sexual assault. So I hope we (maybe starting with the BoingBoing posting) can make sure the two are linked in the public discussion.
And on a sidenote, where on earth do you get that I thought this was in any way “cool” or “funny”? Really?
It was on broadcast national news in the US tonight. They interrupted their coverage of a pretty serious hurricane to report it.

Sorry I did add the “if it was a joke”, but that was before I saw your posting. It was just to make my argument more clear since people apparently want to simplify my argument to being “sexual assault is funny!”.
I don’t think you have a realistic sense of how much authority the Pres. has that isn’t checked by the SCOTUS/Congress, and how much damage they can do even by merely being incompetent.
The next Pres. will be deciding the make-up of the SCOTUS and electing the tie-breaker, and likely at least one more besides. This is a massively important appointment with effects that will last far longer than four years.

I don’t think your argument is “sexual assault is funny;” if I understand you your argument is this is a distraction that plays into how Trump has been running his campaign all along. You’re not getting a great response because you really come off as downplaying sexual assault and that eclipses the rest of your message.

You are correct. I have edited to reflect this.
This is not a mistake I would want people to think I am capable of making, either.
I have a history of being a survivor of sexual molestation, and I am friends with women who have worked in the adult entertainment industry (where one’s willingness to participate should never be confused with consent).
Consent is an important issue for me, and I wouldn’t want bad grammar logic to make it seem otherwise.
As you can see, even a survivor can have days where what is intended is not always precisely what is stated.

Or had one marriage, but cheated on her spouse (compared to Trump cheating on three). Etc. We don’t even need the thought experiment, though. The standards the two candidates obviously aren’t the same. In fact, there’s orders of magnitude difference in what’s expected of the candidates. It’s so far beyond farce I don’t think there’s a name for it.
