This is like a predator-prey competition at this point. The predator can lose the race over and over, the prey can only lose it once. We are definitely prey in this analogy, and will be unless we can change the rules to a level playing field.

Excellent analogy. And with each lost competition, the predator becomes hangrier and hangrier, while the relieved prey just needs a rest.
