GURPS Combat arena

I’m enjoying this, but I think it does say how well we’re both defending when I’m cheering that one of us finally gets past the other’s defenses, even when it means I’m the one that failed to defend!

Regretting the choice not to retreat? :slight_smile:

:smiley: It would have been just enough, wouldn’t it? Nah, I’m pretty amused by it, actually.

1d6+2 cr damage.

@discbot roll 1d6 +2 damage

@Wanderfound the d6 dice reads: 2 +2 damage

Dangit, just short of a Major Wound.

-4 Shock penalty for you this turn.

Incidentally, you may have noticed that my tactics have devolved to “flail madly in the hope of a lucky shot”. :wink:

I’ve been doing a bit of that myself! I knew it would eventually work for one of us.

Let’s see … this looks like a job for All Out Defense (Double Defense.)

Feint, no move.

I always have to kind of stop and “count” my way through feints … OK, so my shock penalty is gone …

Evaluate, no move.

Swing for centre mass, follow retreat if necessary.

@discbot roll 3d6 vs 16 to feint
@discbot roll 3d6 vs 16 to hit

(your Evaluate bonus came after the feint, so no help there)

@Wanderfound, I understand:

@discbot color - discbot will respond with a color
@discbot roll d20 - roll a single 20 sided dice
@discbot roll 2d20 - roll two dice
@discbot roll 2d20+5 - roll two dice with a positive modifier
@discbot roll 2d20-5 - roll two dice with a negative modifier
@discbot roll d20 your extra text here - rolls and parrots back your extra text
@discbot hello - discbot will respond with a greeting
@discbot help - shows all discbot commands

Your special color today is #7BA76C

Try again:

@discbot roll 3d6 vs 16 to feint
@discbot roll 3d6 vs 16 to hit

@Wanderfound the 3d6 dice reads: 7 vs 16 to feint (3,1,3)
@Wanderfound the 3d6 dice reads: 9 vs 16 to hit (2,4,3)

Retreating Parry 13 (retreat +1 def. grip +1) = 15

@discbot roll 3d6 for Quick Contest (feint) 16
@discbot roll 3d6 for Parry 15

@awfulhorrid the 3d6 dice reads: 12 for Quick Contest (feint) 16 (4,6,2)
@awfulhorrid the 3d6 dice reads: 12 for Parry 15 (2,5,5)

Lost the feint by 5, which turns your parry-15 into parry-10.

Roll for damage…

@discbot roll 1d6+2 for damage

@Wanderfound the d6+2 dice reads: 4 for damage

Still no Major Wound.

But you’re now at half Move and Dodge, and have another -4 Shock penalty.

Now it’s not looking good for me!

OK, another All Out Defense (Double) … Hmm. I’m pretty sure I lose the meager Evaluate bonus for that, though.
