I’m 90% sure the costume we got was just a standard black cat costume with a generic batsman cape instead of a tail.
I’ve been working at a charity haunted house for years, and this year I’ve done 12 different costumes so far, with 3 more to go. In other words, I get to play dress-up and scare people for a good cause!
Here’s my take on a Fairy Godmother on Twisted Tales weekend:
Witch hat + scarves, short cape made out of a satin tablecloth, long-sleeved black shirt and long black skirt with a tiered purple skirt belted over it. And a wand made from a stick.
SNL’s take on Halloween this year:
The clocks may not be part of it but they’re a nice touch. One way or another time is running out for Trump.
R/C shoulder parrot!
My son wanted to be a crow, and won’t accept any feather colors that would be inauthentic. So he’s just going to need to carry a lantern with him. Fortunately the neighborhood here is PACKED with kids on Halloween so the drivers are good about taking it slow.
The head is a repurposed dinosaur mask from the dollar store.
You could do glowing red eyes!
The back of the bat wings I made use a fabric that looks black in daylight but reflective when you shine a light on it at night. It’s the same stuff I used to add safety piping to my leather jacket for when I go riding at night.
“Thanks, dad, but I meant this guy…”
He didn’t want to be a raven, gently rapping on doors?
I saw this on FB the other day - so he won’t be alone in all black costumes. The re-purposed mask worked great, and technically birds are dinosaurs, so…
Actually, I think that’s really cool!
Kids that young usually start trick or treating while it’s still light out – which means not only would it be safer, but also easier for others to see and appreciate the costume – so I think it’s a great idea.
OH I think it is super cool too. I’ve seen also Peter Pan’s Shadow.
I am less worried about trick or treaters and traffic - but it does depend on your neighborhood. A glow stick or two or some reflective tape on your loot bag/bucket can go a long way too. Younger kids will have adults helping keep watch on when to cross, and older kids should know when to cross even if cars don’t see them. So be safe.
I remember one year I was death, which was basically all black with white make up.
Finally done! If only we had a third set of hands, we could get the full effect, they’re a little fragile, but have fully articulated mouthparts:
Yiiiiiiip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip
I’m going Fallout. Pics to come later…
no costume, but I was wandering the local craft store’s Halloween clearance and among the Spooky Rat Skeleton, Creepy Cat Skeleton and Scary Dog Skeleton there was the…
Really Inaccurate Tarantula Skeleton
I was unaware how many ribs spiders had.
Every Halloween a friend on the other side of the country sends me a text that says “What are you wearing?”
The past few years I feel I’ve disappointed him by not being in costume. This year I think I’ll stuff a pair of my jeans, hang them from the ceiling, take a picture, and tell him “I’m Claude Raines!”
Garnet Pumpkin! Had to make my own stencil. I think I should ahve
connected the neck and cheeks in hindsight, but I was worried it would
be too weak.
Oh - guess what I did on mine. If you are like me some times you turn the top three times around to find how it is supposed to line up on the pumpkin. This time I cut a small notch on the lid and the pumpkin in the back to line it up.
