$40 for a foam pumpkin!? That’s the scary part.

Have you ever tried carving foam? It crumbles and little staticy bits cling to everything in a six meter radius.

After Halloween our regular grown-in-dirt pumpkin is chopped up and goes on the vegetable garden for next year. This non-biodegradable crap goes into the landfill and eventually reaches the oceans at some point in its billion-year half life.

Yes, it’s barely cheaper than getting one from a you-pick orchard.

I love my local orchards and support them every year, but it’s at least a $100 day.

Ironically, you need batteries with a full charge to properly display it.

I just learned that there are foam pumpkins for “low mess” carving.

It is not impossible to imagine somebody to mistaking this for a “device of unknown origin and purpose” and that could lead to all sorts of terrifying consequences.

I was wrong, that’s even more terrifying.

At first glance, I thought it was about wealth inequality.

Me too - was trying to figure it out while being decidedly not scared. Took a while to realise it is supposed to look like a battery at 1% charge. Also not scary.

First world problems are always the worst problems there are… to those that get to have them!

This is a great design. I’d quibble bit with the stylistics, though. Make it 8-14%. You never see the phone when its actually at “1%”. It’s humming along at 35%, then suddenly it’s at 8% and then-- hello? hello? (Also, some are going to try to figure out what this 1% pumpkin has to do with Bernie.)

Unless you’re running 6-year-old phones. Ask me how I know!

Which we no longer are, but we did see status lights like this on our phones a lot.

Socialism is a very scary thing to some people. There they are, minding their own business, and all of a sudden they have workers rights and medicare for all. They’ll be having nightmares for days now.

“1% battery. That’s not scary. Charge your phone.”

Because Xeni actually thinks dead phones are terrifying. Right.

We roast the seeds, and if Mr. Kidd feels do moved, we don’t even carve the pumpkin, preferring to roast it for making pie (yes, you can do this with field pumpkin, but you will need extra sugar for the pie purée.). We can’t do that with foam pumpkins.
