Happy Mutants food and drink topic (Part 1)

Very nice!

Wait a minute, what’s this?

Never mind, that’s just the sewing kit.

Lovely! (I like the checkerboard ones!)

I share your dislike of decorating sugar cookies, much to Kiddo’s disappointment, so I admire your doing it anyway. Usually I grit my teeth and get it over with, but this year I didn’t have the extra bandwidth. Your gift boxes are inspiring.

Eh, not big enough for my sewing needs - it’s holding leftover Halloween candies. Mostly smarties.

I developed my hatred of sugar cookies during the daughter’s childhood. I enjoyed making the elaborate cakes for birthdays, but rolling and cutting and decorating for Christmas was a hell.
She now has the shoebox full of cookie cutters and the little aluminum press for icing, along with the marble rolling pin and pastry board set. I was happy to hand that down to her as soon as she asked!

Either spritz or short bread tend to scratch that sugar cookie itch without being downright sad.

And they won’t deform when thrown through a press.

Exactly!
Except, the husband really love sugar cookies with royal icing; it’s one of those childhood taste things that make no sense.

If I could get on your send list for next year, I’ll even spot you the shipping costs…I’m a pretty good friend, I promise!

Confession: I have never sent cookies. Ever. I get flummoxed by everything, starting with choosing the right cookies… Sigh. Maybe I can just drive them to you.
ETA: then they’d be fresh and not just stale crumbs.

there are benefits to being BoatUS member, including offshore service (think AAA for boats)

You know what. I hate sugar cookies, but with royal icing it kind of works.

But it’s really the royal icing I’m after. And it’s far better with short bread.

What I would do is just lie through my teeth.

Make shortbread cookies, and swear up and down it’s just a particularly good sugar cookie recipe.

I am into Holiday cookies for the frosting.
I save up all my sugar intake so I can blow it this time of the year.

Beef tenderloin, butternut squash with drizzled honey, cauliflower Parmesan, roasted mashed potatoes, and mushroom risotto. The oven ran hot, unfortunately, so the tenderloin was a bit past medium-rare.
