Good one. Thank you and Cheers!

White people food? This is a thing?
Mine is simple.
3 Tbsp soy
3 Tbsp sugar
1/3 cup sake
1/2 tsp Ground ginger
1/2 tsp garlic paste or ground garlic
Reduce in a pot for a grilling glaze
Scale up for a marinade.
Japan, South Korea and Taiwan have been doing it for a while as cafe food/bakeries.
“English” sandwiches of ham, egg salad or tuna on white bread.
European style baked pastries and breads
Asian takes on simple pasta dishes
BTW, tried some of this yesterday, it’s like a slightly more umami/robust worcestershire sauce, there isn’t so much of the tangy tamarind flavor, I quite like it.
There was a quote (maybe from Medsger edible plant book?) to the effect of “I’d rather have a pint of the wild than a gallon of the tame”.
Yeah the ones we see everywhere, they’re crosses of the tiny wld ones, and the other half is this one: https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/white-strawberry
Published in 1989, it was the cookbook that dared to ask: Why not use your car engine as a stove?
I did put home made burritos triple wrapped in aluminum foil on the exhaust manifolds of my 1967 289 Ford Bronco when driving up the delta to go fish.
Anyone got a good neopolitan pizza dough recipe?
I own a copy of this but have never cooked from it. Maybe the next time I drive to Ontario I’ll give it a shot.
We finally sampled the wares this weekend. It’s been in the garage deep freeze all these months. Judging panel of two is unanimous: this past winter’s experiment in making an alcoholic beverage from some of my Meyer lemon harvest was a success!
A little bit goes a long way, though! We tried it as a digestif. I was so afraid it would taste like lemon Pledge, but it’s tangy and sweet, syrupy, and quite smooth.
Glad your limoncello came out good! ![]()
Many years ago some friends and I went out to dinner at a new, hip place for a special occasion. I ordered the chicken pot pie—I think it was trendy at the time. Unfortunately, I guess it was supposed to be lemony or something, but it tasted exactly like Janitor in a Drum. I couldn’t even force myself to eat it ![]()
Hey that’s great!
My new favorite ending to the, “if life hands you lemons,” saying.
Glad it came out well! Cheers.
Ehh, the Mississippi does start in Minnesota, and I believe river boats like the one shown on the label did make their way to Minneapolis, and Minnesota does produce maple syrup (though I don’t see anything about qty / market share). Can’t figure out the NJ connection though… Maybe that’s where the maple flavored part comes in…
I’m a big fan of Serious Eats / Kenji’s recipe and method: Hacker-Free Neapolitan Pizza for a Home Kitchen Recipe
Yeah, kenji is the base for several of my dough recipes, but worried this one seems more easy than authentic, if that makes sense…? But may be a good place to start.
