I tried again, with my traditional bread machine recipe that I had perfected after much experimentation during the early days of the pandemic. It came out PERFECT. Soft, chewy crust, nicely browned, not that light color of the previous loaf.
Any USians here getting ready for National Night Out tonight? My block is having a potluck in the street.
Normally I would bake some kind of fruit cobbler or a gingerbread or somesuch, but I donāt like to use the oven in the summer, and Iām hoping for a nap this afternoon. I thought of getting some chips and dip, but wasnāt sure about having dip sit out in the summer. Then I remembered that chips come in flavors! All set now. Two is probably enough to take, though.
It was a successful gathering. Big highlight was a friendly visit from some Minneapolis firefighters with their big firetruck, and all the little kids got to climb up on it.
Save for the chocolate syrup, itās basically a peanut butter and banana sandwich. I wouldnāt go out of my way for it, and the syrup makes my lactose-intolerant gut biome scream in agony. But itās fine for a snack or quick breakfast.
PB, banana and honey is one of my favorite sandwiches, but NOT a hot dog bun. The bread needs to be whole wheat to stand up to the fillings.preferably toasted.
