Happy Mutants food and drink topic (Part 2)

lengua! my very most favoritest of tacos! did you braise it or slow cooker?

Braised, then roughly-chopped, then sautéed in bacon fat. It was heavenly.

Yes, please!

Made a white pizza with thin sliced onions, bell peppers, and some grilled artichokes that needed using, chopped. Mozzarella on top…

Then today a friend came by and left us this, it seems nice, know nothing about sake… will try Google image search later, but would prefer to ask humans instead of a faceless algorithm.

I made a breakfast the other day. I used some leftover tots, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, green onions, feta, gyro meat and tzatziki sauce

saw this the other day and knew i was making it!

so i had some corvina and some yellowtail snapper in the freezer, lots of my fresh peppers, some tomatoes from a neighbor’s garden. just needed the cilantro (corriander) and green onions.
super good and used up some fresh produce before it got old.
served with basmati rice.

I have not been a real wine drinker until the last few years since I retired.
Sake Sunday today!
And I now enjoy a good red occasionally with dinner.

Great organization of ingredients!
love the build it yourself type of serving.

Generally sake in brown bottles tends to be on the smooth side and stores well.
I have no official knowledge to that effect beyond trial and error. (New York Japan Society hosts sake tasting events annually).

Does anyone know what the picture on the label is supposed to be? I’m afraid I may be succumbing to pareidolia, as it looks to me like a caricature of a funny little smiling man with a big belly and a belly-button, with his right arm raised pointing at the sun in the sky. Oh, and he has an amulet made of chili peppers hanging from his left ear. I don’t know what the curved thing at the lower left is, if not his surfboard.

Either that, or it’s the head of Elsie the Cow.

I’m sure I’m going to feel very dumb and embarrassed when someone tells me what it actually is!

heehee! i see Elsie! or the fat bellyman. i think our comrade @Jesse13927 might be able to comment more accurately.

it is my personal opinion that sake should be chilled. in my experience, those served cold were superior to any i have ever been served warmed. YMMV, of course.

Thanks. I think the only improvement would be homemade corn tortillas, and homemade Mexican street corn. Next time!
