not if that is the real deal Central Grocery muffuletta! gawd, i loved those!
@Doctor_Faustus the salad part is the special olive salad that dresses the sandwich (think of a very chuncky olive tapenade) plus the cold cuts and provolone on that bun! aaiii! damn! THAT is a sammich!
In Chicago, we put something similar on our sandwiches, tavern-style pizzas, etc.: instead of muffalatta, we use giardiniera:
More veggies, fewer olives.
Yum! Are you in NoLa?
It’s been years, but if Napolean’s is still there, that was one of my favorite places. Amazing food at surprisingly good prices with a delightful courtyard to sit in.
Also, the New Orleans School of Cooking was well worth the morning. History plus cooking lesson, and a full meal. We’ve been making gumbo ever since, and it’s better than anything we’ve found outside of the city.
Pink oyster mushroom production still going strong in November! I moved the grow buckets into the laundry room (which also contains our furnace and water heater) for warmth.
Tablecloth checks out.
No cherries on top?
This is one sandwich cut in 4 at Napoleon House NoLa.
Great choice!
Not out of season; that’s for tourists.
Oh, nice! Napoleon House, that’s the place I was thinking of. So glad to see it’s still there. After we found that place it was hard to want to go exploring for meals as much because it was just so lovely.
A friend from Germany, who used to be a regular here, sent me a kit from there, and it included the cherries!
OMG, I found it, from 2015:
One of the greatest cities in the world, especially for food!
Looks amazing and very authentic
The kids loved it!
And that was back before we even had a food & drink thread on the BBS.
Looks great!
10/10, would eat.
