I counted 10 strides for Obama to ascend the ramp, 24 awkward steps for Trump to hobble his way down. Must have been the bone spurs acting up.

In fairness downhill is more awkward than uphill. Things spiral out of control faster, more shock on your knees, etc. Would have been more fair (but the difference less pronounced) with everyone walking up or down.

When walking up, one goes against the pull of gravity; while walking down one goes with the gravitational pull, meaning there’s less resistance.
It’s a ramp, not stairs.

More work takes place walking uphill, but it is less shock on your joints. Walking downhill you have more elevation delta for gravity to work, i.e. more shock.
Running with knee problems I learned this: downhill hurts more, uphill less.
It is probably not relevant, but your body is probably more adapted to uphill walking. (I once did the Grouse Grind twice in 3 days, the second time walking down, and was a total wreck after the second time.)

The only reliable point of comparisons that I can see involve having – or not having – an escort when negotiating the ramp. Videos show Pres. Obama and Trump going up the ramp; Trump had an escort; Pres. Obama did not.
Eventually, both had to come down the ramp. We know Trump had an escort. I’ve seen no video (yet) showing Pres. Obama going down the ramp. So the question for me is, did he have an escort going down? I believe it reasonable to assume… no.

Obama was so great; he had the physical fitness to walk over to his office and coordinate the extrajudicial killings via drone strikes that happened under his watch; Trump just does it from the couch while he watches Fox News! Shaking my head at how far we’ve fallen. /s
