I’ve lived with Great Danes-all of the slobber, much less of the fur. Also huge as puppies. Met a St.Bernard once who could hide 3! tennis balls in his mouth at once.
I love the giant breeds, but I don’t think I could handle how short their lifespans are.
I love giant dogs as well. My wife and I are well, elderly. We adopted a rescued Swissy (GSMD) in 2010. Drove from KC to Northfield MN to pick him up and bring him to his home. He had serious health problems when we got him, but they didn’t keep Seuss from being the most noble and loving companion we ever had. When he died at the age of 9 (life span of giant dogs is short) we grieved quite a while. My wife said that Seuss was the last dog we’d ever have. I’m sorry, I want to tell the stories but I just can’t go on.
You did a good thing by taking him into your lives. You loved him, he loved you, and you gave him the best life possible. He must have been a great dog.

Dog people, amiright? (says this while petting a dog.)
Seems like a company is working on something to extend the lives of dogs.
Oh wow, they’ve got a room to themselves that’s bigger than my entire home.
They’re adorable and thoroughly deserve it of course. Houses in Pennsylvania are just clearly built big.
