Its going to be interesting what evidence Cohen says he has. It has been notoriously difficult to prove quid pro quo but maybe in this era of everything being recorded, it will come back to bite Trump.

So, Huckabee seems to fall back on that a lot. She has no knowledge… so does she wear earplugs and work in a soundproof office? Is she escorted in and out wearing a blindfold and noise cancelling headphones?
For someone whose job it is to represent the president to the media, seems like there is a suspicious amount of “I have no knowledge” instead of “no.”

Morally? yes. Legally, this seems to have the most legs, not because of the adultery but because of how they tried to launder the hush money.

I don’t think these are the drones the democrats are looking for. From what I understand, it is sleazy, but not illegal for a candidate to pay off a blackmailer or mistress. The accusation is that Cohen is accused of making the payments for DJT, for which he was reimbursed. The crime would be that making the payment is considered a contribution to the campaign. But if Cohen was working for Trump, then it might be normal for him to provide services with the expectation of repayment. So prosecutors would need to prove that DJT did this with the intention of breaking the law, which his repayment of the the money might reasonably cast into doubt.
If anyone understands the situation better than that, please correct me.
Cohen acknowledged in court that the aim was indeed to protect Mr Trump’s candidacy, saying he had paid the money “at the direction” of Mr Trump “for the principal purpose of influencing the election”.

The crux of the issue hinges on one word:
Making the payments is not illegal. Not disclosing it is.
The other part is did Trump know about them and when. By denying he knew until afterwards, he can claim plausible deniability. Problem is he’s tripped himself up with his own statements and the audio tape clearly shows he was aware of the payments prior to the election.
As usual, it’s not the crime but the coverup that burns you.
