I was just trying to see it from the perspective that this guy probably doesn’t have a desire in life to be mean, he’s just been fed this story for so long that he’s got to deal with the self-loathing somehow. It’s unfortunate that he seeks punitive sermons as his outlet. He’s caught in the trap of his upbringing. It’s still very common - go to Texas to see millions of conservative Christians who have not yet encountered the gay-friendly world…
Yeah, I too wish that he’d get with the times and be all live-and-let-live. That stuff takes a lot of time and introspection. He may get there yet.
