Cats frequently chose to not consider the size of their opponent in a conflict, and just assume that they are the apex predator in any situation. See all the vids of cats taking on bears and such. The attitude of “you do not want any of this” gets them through way more often that it probably should.

We’ve got a feral in the yard and a squirrel, the squirrel rules.
She gets up and leaves when he shows up, doesn’t even try to argue with him.

“Bully” is a strong word for a bobcat that wandered over after smelling food, wasn’t aggressive toward the housecat, then wandered away.
