How a sex researcher and a cosplaying 3D printing specialist created an open source, orgasm-measuring butt-plug

Very interesting device. Seems like it would be hard to have a control group. Possibly a good example of how the act of measuring changes the system.

Dr. Prause surely deserves to go down in the anals of medical history.

It’s possible to do 3d printing with body-safe plastics?

I don’t think they’re networked, so this isn’t the internet of things.

This would be more, connecting your butt to the things of the internet.

(“We ordered like 20 of these butt plugs off Amazon, and it messed up my recommendation engine for all time”)

There’s a story in there somewhere.

And then there are the direct attacks on Prause’s work. “I’m getting threatened with lawsuits almost weekly now,” she says.

Cultural conservatism: the fear that someone somewhere is having an orgasm.

How long did they sit on their conclusions?

Print it with this for a real “Kodak moment”:

(Then again, you might not want their cloud knowing about it. And why does a 3D printer need a cloud?))

For custom, artisanal butt-plugs I highly recommend work of Matthew Healy on Etsy (warning, links are obviously NSFW):

This one is really cool:

And if you REALLY like portraits photoshopped by @beschizza (like politicians with eye instead of mouth), this may be for you:

Sure, but you have to be careful about filament you use and you have to set correct extruder temperature - too high temperature may break down plastic. There’s even medical grade ABS and PLA filament, but obviously it’s costly.
