The now-deleted comment was a a news report from a Bizarro World full of “alternate facts”.
That channel is so good. If you are even vaguely into motorbikes, or video production, do check out their other videos.
My German is awful, but, for those with none:
Didja know this?
Yeah, he must have been having an off day.
Feel free to correct me. My partner does!
Did you ever think about buying a Stella or some other licensed-ish repro of the old Vespas? Every now and then, I kick the idea around.
My first “bike” was a Honda Aero 80, and my buddy got to ride his dad’s Vespa; I think it was a 150? I was so envious. It was nice!
You’re spot on.
Considering this is a transliteration of North German dialect you are underselling your linguistic abilities
In this context, more like something in the vein of 'nuff said. A rhetorical question and a statement of perceived fact rolled into one.
However, the rhetorical question is answered with the suggestion that, in that case, God must have been really off his game on this particular day.
Everything spoken in a North German dialect from the northern part of the Baltic coast of Schleswig-Holstein. By persons who will resort to speaking Plattdeutsch at the slightest provocation.
Being a boomer myself I agree, it sums up the situation quite nicely. I enjoy riding motorbikes but do not see myself as a ‘biker’. This whole ‘tough guy’ image and ‘loud pipes save life’s’ is ridiculous. I do enjoy my 2016 HD Road Glide tremendously and use it mainly for long trips, it is certainly not about speed. Awkward to ride around town though, too heavy. For this I prefer my little BMW G310 GS and I couldn’t give a hoot what others think about its engine size.

I bought a Harley engined Buell new in 2006. I still have it. It’s been about as reliable as any Japanese bike I’ve owned with the exception of wheel bearings. It’s had an above average amount of wheel bearings. But it would be inaccurate to characterise it as unreliable.
I’ve never ridden a Rotax Buell so I can’t compare, but I can say that the Harley engine is remarkable.
The motor snorts and growls like an animal and makes an abundance of torque all the time. The rest of the bike is a tight, small, precise weapon with enormous brakes. And the combination of wild motor and surgical chassis makes the thing a howl to ride.
When I’m out riding with friends and we’re swapping bikes around, everyone wants the Buell.
With relatives in Vorarlberg, Franconia, and the Muhlviertel, my ears have to be on their toes. I can’t say a damn thing, but I know when someone’s talking about supper time.
ETA: oh my, that post1) was eaten fast.
1) I tried to reply to.

Comrade Ilovetrump had to go lift his hog out of the ditch.

The folks I knew with problematic bikes bought them in the mid to late ‘90’s. They may have worked out the reliability issues later on, but by that time their reputation was already pretty much trashed in Australia.
Maybe Stella. But really what I want is a Honda Club Sport. I see them in japan. 50cc I think. Obvi doesn’t meet environmental standards here. Or there probably, I never see any new ones.
A buddy of mine has one. It has similar cache to a Harley. Lots of comments and discussion with bystanders, without all the HD cultural baggage. Plays out as an identity marker for many from what I can see.
Also, these things are 50 times more dangerous than a motorcycle on the street, although they do shred off-road.
50 times more dangerous
I wouldn’t go that far, but yes, the driving dynamics of a motorcycle with a sidecar are something else entirely. Quite different from a bike, or a car, or a trike. Bit of a learning curve.
(One of my second (or third? I never get this right) used to commute with a sidecar MZ for years and years. At one point he was doing a major overhaul and couldn’t use it for a couple of days and borrowed a friend’s MZ. Same model, just no sidecar. The first day he drove to work on it he promptly fell over at the first red traffic light because he forgot to put his feet down.)
