How to cut an avocado without hurting yourself

  1. While cutting the avocado in half, failure to keep your fingers out of the way of the blade as it slides through and rotates around the pit.
  2. While removing the pit, a dull knife blade slides off instead of into the pit and knicks your fingers, holding the sides of the avocado.
  3. Trying to pull the pit from the blade, your fingers slip off of the slippery pit and across the blade.
  4. Using a sharp blade to slice the meat inside the rind, you press just a tiny bit too hard and the knife tip cuts through the rind and into your fingers.

Four extremely simple mistakes that would hurt a lot. I have never cut myself while cutting up an avocado. But it’s really not hard to imagine ways for it to happen.
