Seriously, with all the deaths related to fishing and crabbing, you’d think that somebody would have built a fleet of robotic trawlers. Ones that operate tirelessly, ceaselessly, only ever stopping to offload their catch and refuel.
Could be an offshoot of, or a side activity for, my pet idea of self-replicating fleet of green-crude algae farming floating ponds.
This is the People’s Republic of California. We have laws against freakin’ everything. Whether, and how, they are enforced is often pretty arbitrary.
From what I understand, the reason it’s even a law is that some people were using UAVs and software to track and target game fish and animals on the edges of various protected areas. Step over the invisible line, and Pow! sorta like the whole Cecil the Lion thing.
