Yeah, this dude talks about eating people waaaayyyy too much.
Alex Jones isn’t fantasizing about the apocalypse. It’s just his fear schtick to get the rubes lined up to buy his supplements and “buckets full of freeze-dried rations.” AJ himself doesn’t want a Road Warrior reality. He’s a big believer in the almighty dollar and is trying to move his millions around to avoid defamation judgments rather than using that money to build a bunker in New Zealand.
He reminds me precisely of the survival camp owner in the Robin Williams movie “The Survivors” who is revealed at the end to have a stash of stocks or bonds or something showing he’s invested in the future of capitalism.
He clearly is, though. I mean, yeah, it’s part of the grift, and I’m sure to a large degree it’s all about appealing to the fantasies of his marks, but boy, he sure gets into it. With Jones, he’ll argue, in some contexts, that it’s all just an act and he doesn’t believe in it, but if you simulate a thing too well, you become the thing simulated. Regardless of the reality, none of that means he actually believes it’ll happen, though.
Speaking of potential kink stuff, the only time I wouldn’t piss on him is if he was on fire.
Now I want a “EAT MY LEFTIST ASS” bumper sticker
It seems like “Simulacra and Dissimulation” covers a lot of the right wing griftosphere; and certainly Jones.
Thinking about Baudrillard a lot these days…
