In bizarre tweet, Trump says those investigating him told him to fire Comey

Orwell couldn’t have written about what’s happening today because it would have been too ridiculous to sell. Who would believe that Trump’s followers don’t care what he says or what he does? Readers would have said, “No, any leader who did that would lose his followers immediately”. Yet Trump doesn’t.

As somebody said, “If this were performed upon a stage, I could condemn it as improbable fiction”.

Hypernormality. Convince people it’s not possible to divine the real truth (fake news! deceit! biased experts!), convince them that deception will happen no matter what and there is nothing that can be done about it, and you leave them with the option of simple choosing their truth, because in a world where truth can’t be discerned then all that matters from the stories you’re being told is the emotional resonance.

Rosenstein appointed Mueller. Mueller initiated an investigation of Trump. Therefore, Rosenstein is indirectly responsible for the investigation. I postulate that Trump’s brain cannot grasp the concepts of singular and plural, and that his brain, like the teleporter in the movie The Fly, merged this Rosenstein-Mueller entity into a new individual, very similar to Brundlefly. Ladies and gentlemen, meet…

This is what living under the insane capricious king must be like. However, the United States of America is not a monarchy, it is a constitutional republic. We can FIRE our leaders if they’re insane, remove them if they’re capricious, jail them if they’re treasonous.

Seems plausible. He needs an enemies list like Nixon needed one, to even the score against all those who are plotting against him (when he is the one doing it to himself).

I liked it when Charles Blow described Turmp as “the idiot’s image of an intellectual, the coward’s image of a courageous man and the pauper’s image of a prosperous man”, which could’ve been a weapons-grade quote if he’d taken a couple of minutes to tune the prose.

What is it about the behaviour of the GOP, both at present and over the last decade, that makes you believe that they have any intention of fairly administering the midterm election in the red states?

That much of it was painfully familiar.

Not because of his fiction, because of his life. He had plenty of experience with fascism.

Nothing. But that doesn’t mean it’s not possible to beat them. When gerrymandering fails, it fails hard!

Probably time to start planning and organising for that, then.

What are you going to do to resist voter suppression and disenfranchisement? How can you make sure that the red state non-fascists get a chance to have their votes counted? What are the ways in which you can prepare to resist the inevitable Republican ratfuckery?

According to the man himself, this is a feature, not a bug.

The red states will be lost for some decades, through gerrymandering/redistricting and GOP’s cynical voter ID voter disenfranchisement laws and policy (Shout out to Justice Roberts! The now-retired Voter Rights Act did a such a great job cleaning up all that stuff, that it’s no longer needed! So good that racism as we know it has ended!)

But the purple states are still in play. A democrat Congress is possible.

Although, true change will only come when Democrats control Congress in a census year (so as to allow fair redistricting) and/or Latino demographics start to overwhelm Texas. So, uh, yeah, in 10-20 years. In the mean time, enjoy your tax cuts and Big Government cutting all services/entitlements “getting off your back.” What? You’re not extraordinarily wealthy? I’ve read about this condition. Well, there’s always hope. Perhaps your descendants will be extraordinarily wealthy!

Or it’s just that his ability to express himself in writing is on the level of a typical youtube comment section. Shit could mean any combination or possible misuse of the words that make up the message.

Typical behavior for President Caligula - When he thinks what he does will be popular, he hogs all the credit; When it blows up in his face, he swears it was aaaaaaalll somebody else’s idea.

Which is what makes Drumpf suckers so maddening - They are either too stupid and obedient to recognize this screamingly obvious hypocrisy, or - Like Drumpf himself - they are too lacking in integrity to care.
