I think that cringe is just supposed to be something that is embarrassing. Even to the person witnessing it.
Fascism is never cringe. It’s terrifying. Calling it cringe seems like downplaying it
For example, when it turns out that my definition is completely wrong, or that I have humiliated myself by misinterpreting your original question, that is cringe

My take on when @beschizza used cringe was that in the field of journalism, you can’t be taken as a Serious Journalist if you call someone a fascist, it’s amateur hour stuff. It’s cringy behavior, embarassing.
