My Dad told me that some kind of strong maple flavoured drink was associated with cabane à sucre festivities that I gather was distilled from probably unreduced sap (not legally, of course). Don’t know what it was called. Whiskey Blanc (pure grain alcohol) was also flavoured with maple syrup poured into snow (tire d’erable), too, according to him.

If he was a friend, I’d be worried.
Given that he is the enemy of democracy (and therefor an enemy of us all) I am left to hope that he has a friend who is worried about him as a person. On the one hand, fuck that guy, on the other hand, he seems to be suffering and I can’t really feel good about human suffering.

My Dad more than me, I raised in B.C., but my Dad back and forth to Quebec in his youth included preschool years in Montreal speaking joual, which was kind of stigmatized in those days so he didn’t speak much at home except to the dogs (he was convinced dogs were French Canadian). I don’t speak French anymore, but my Dad made me read stuff like Moliere and Dumas when I was a kid so I sounded like a prat anyway
