As much as I’d love to think this is a rejection of his ideology, anyone would turn back on a lease if the financial guarantees turned out to be fraudulent.

Do you mean fight FOR paedophile rings? That would be more in keeping with classical Roman morality (since children were not deemed to have any right to protection and yes, it is known that some slaves were minors who were used for sex by their ‘owners’).
