Narrator: “He was.”
Honestly curious, because I don’t know, but if Thomas was arrested, convicted, and put in prison would that affect his lifetime appointment to the court? Because I have a feeling that it would still not be possible to get the votes in the senate to impeach him
For the record: giving up is not even an option.
There are core values I will be working on for my whole life, against all odds and in the full conscious thought that I believe Nothing Will Happen™️.
If I stop, I stop being a human being.
To phrase it differently:
I can acknowledge that in (most, if not all) particular current instances, Nothing Will Change™ and keep working on changing the basis for a different outcome in the future.
This is frustrating, and I often sigh or even scream Nothing Will Change™, because I am experiencing that nothing will change.
I know you know that, but read some of the comments people make here about this being an inevitability. The people who believe that likely believe that they are less likely to be impacted by a civil war.
In regards to the difficulty of living in our current political world day to day:
At a recent talk Justice Sonya Sotomayor said:
“There are days I get discouraged, there are moments when I am deeply, deeply disappointed,” Sotomayor admitted. But she said she licks her wounds, “sometimes I cry,” and “then I say, ‘OK, let’s fight.’”
Yep. Here about saving our democracy, any threads about civil rights or climate change, seems to bring out the “nothing will change, so why bother,” posters.
But I know how you feel, sometimes, @LutherBlisset. Even when I feel like it won’t change, not fighting is not an option, because I have to live with myself and to me it would be unconscionable.
All from people who most likely aren’t directly impacted by those things (or less impacted than others, at least).
I do sympathize, @LutherBlisset, but we have to push back against the narrative that nothing can be done, or nothing WILL get done.
Agreed, and frankly I’m over that defeatist shit.
If they aren’t going to be of any help, then they should just get the fuck out of the way.

Are you speaking to Mansinema??
we have to push back against the narrative that nothing can be done, or nothing WILL get done.
I try not to push back in a push and shove way, but try to use the momentum.
I can agree on the feeling, and even the experience, if someone says that Nothing Will Happen™ and I do add that we need to change this, and we are not alone in the will to do so, AND that giving up is not an option.
We are legion.
Let’s fight.
Agreed, and frankly I’m over that defeatist shit.
I see you, your anger, and frustration.
Point I am trying to make is that I want others to try to change that nothing happens all the time.
I can acknowledge the fact that someone is likely right that nothing will happen and ask them at the same time to keep fighting so that this changes.
There must be a way to change. Must.
