This was a favorite of mine as a kid, from an aunt’s Jan & Dean’s greatest hits album. It worthwhile sticking around until the origin story at the end. “As if an answer, a huge bat flies through the open window.”

Sounds just exactly like each singer wandering off into his own key. Which is odd, because earlier in their career J&D could stay on pitch just fine, and there was no Autotune to come to the rescue then.
