Migratory birds are federally protected. Even if he didn’t kill that goose it could be illegal to possess it. As usual the right wing outrage machine about breaking federal laws only fires up when it’s politically convenient.
The fact of the matter we don’t know anything beyond what was shown in the photo. Maybe it was a crime, maybe he had a permit, maybe it wasn’t even a real goose, maybe he wasn’t even an immigrant.
One thing we DO know is that the person who posted it said it wasn’t taken anywhere near Springfield but the bigots latched onto it to feed their narrative anyway.

according to the ever-dubious TMZ, the Ohio Wildlife and Game Service had this to say about that photo. and yes, it was taken in an Ohio town 45 minutes away from Springfield.
