“Kicked us off in stride”?
You are mixing and matching your metaphors JD. You can kick something off in style, or you can take something in stride. I don’t think you can kick something off in stride. Honestly I’m not even sure what that means. If there is any kicking going on in the GOP presidential campaign, I’d recommend one (or preferably two) people being kicked off the ticket.
