John Oliver on Brexit: the EU is the least-worst option, and racists support Leave

Twinned with Reading!

I’ve been there, but all I can remember is they sell beer.

This is really going to happen, isn’t it? The country is fucked.

…and that’s the big problem. Even leaving aside the economic daftness, a Brexit win is going to be seen as a proxy victory for the British fascists.

If it happens, it’s a win for murderous bigotry.

Traditionally considered pretty posh, but that’s partly in contrast to Ruhr area (formerly) full of heavy industry close by. Biggest Japanese community in Germany.

I don’t really want to like anything.

This is worse than the general election was.

I’m glad I left. I have nothing but contempt for what appears to be most of my countrymen, it seems.

Join the club.

My fellow citizens have spent the last thirty years consistently voting for the violent abuse of refugees. Including refugee children.

At least your bit of the country aren’t arseholes - 70% remain, I see.

I dread to think how my area is going to vote.

I hope this guardian arcticle is correct - apparently the referendum isn’t legally binding and Cameron can choose to ignore it (if he decides that having Scotland leave the United Kingdom is a bad idea, for example)

I am sure that would calm things down.

He might as well. It’s not like he has a reputation left to defend and his premiership is toast either way after this. Might be interesting if he finally discovers his backbone.

It seems like the easy thing to do is for England (and Wales?) to leave the UK and the EU.

…and there’s my area. 62% leave. Not as bad as I feared, but still terrible. And Leave is winning everywhere.

David Cameron, you’re a fucking moron.

Holy crap, they weren’t kidding about this being close, were they?

It’s not close. We’ll run out of Scotland soon and from there on it’ll be a landslide for the Leavers.

I need to step away from the computer. I’m going to go get drunk instead.

I think it might be the best option, this is disturbing to me, must be a horror for you. One the plus side, Republicans will probably be more welcoming to British economic refugees than they’ve been to Syrian war refugees.

I wish I could get drunk :disappointed:

I might apply to join the Socialist Party of Great Britain instead. I keep looking at the questions you need to answer and not doing it, but now seems as good a time as there ever will be.

British government got us into this mess so lets abolish it.

You think people are going to be fleeing towards Trumpist America?

I’m starting to understand what it was like to live through the 1930s.

At least Trump isn’t going to win in Nov. Fromage has.

From my POV, the Clinton campaign is doing everything possible to hand the Presidency to Trump.

The fact that it is a Clinton campaign (as opposed to literally any other democrat) doesn’t help. And we still have a doubtless craptastic centrist VP pick to come.

I don’t want to live on this planet any more.

Think we can gather enough Boingers to organise a one-way trip to Antarctica?
