I liked it when a certain podcast described his voice as like air escaping from a week-old shrivelled balloon left over from the cancelled birthday party of a dead child

Post coital regret about his thoughts? Does that mean he realizes he’s fucked in the head and is saddened?

That statement is unspeakably gross, and, like the speaker, should never be heard again.

Yet another “conservative” “intellectual” who doesn’t know what big words mean. Or does know what they mean and is just an asshole.

Except that is exactly the line that TERs are using to deny trans people bodily autonomy, against actual medical advice. I can only speak for myself, but forcefully detransitioning me will not have a positive effect on my mental health, and from listening to other trans people that seems to be true for them too.

The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.
Albert Camus

It is a tragedy, I feel, that people of a different sexual type are caught in a world which shows so little understanding for homosexuals and is so crassly indifferent to the various gradations and variations of gender and their great significance in life.

Boo. The TERs are awful people who suck, then. Which we already knew, just another reason why.

Every time I think the lobster man has hit the nadir of human stupidity, he plunges through and plumbs new, unbelievable depths of know-nothing asshattery.

Suicide by weird all-meat diet, suicide by benzo addiction, suicide by quack Russian doctor … and beyond that there’s also the career suicide he committed. Maybe Jordaddy’s researching a new “12 Rules” book for the remaining pathetic wastes of oxygen who still think he’s a brilliant intellectual.

He’s so irrelevant, his toxic fanbois don’t show up here regularly like they used to whenever there was a FPP about him.

I’ve been watching for them to storm in. Surprised and also pretty satisfied that they seem to have given up.

Even entitled far-right man-baby losers have moved on from this brain-fried has-been.

For no good reason, the name makes my brain intitially think of this pretend pretentious idiot instead of the actual pretentious idiot.

I’m honestly not sure who the “they” is here—are the people who are trying to make Peterson out to be rational open to a lot of persuasion on this point?—but if you’re saying BB has a lot of readers who need to hear this about him, I’m not going to try to tell you I know better.

Didn’t stop you giving it a go though, eh?

It’s important for progressives to stay informed about the current state of right-wing movements and influencers if we want any hope of countering them.

Recent history has shown time and time again that ignoring the loons and bigots and misogynists and fascists doesn’t make them go away.

At the risk of putting words in Rob’s mouth, I think he’s referring to the fact that Peterson is one of those “bridge” people into the Dark Intellectual movement. Along with Joe Rogan, Sam Harris, etc. They are this generation’s David Duke. The suit-wearing gateway fascists that make the normies feel comfortable with being gradually conquered. All along the way, they’re Just Asking Questions™. They are surrounded in just enough intellectual legitimacy that people who aren’t in the loop on who these guys are will listen to them and take them seriously. However, just below that thin veneer, they are fragile crackpots.

The “they” is other journalists and pundits and so on. So in that respect this is a “media navelgazing” post that might not be of particular interest to the majority of BB readers. I might be fairly accused of playing to the choir.

That said, BB is a vaguely left-libertarian blog, as a kind of vibe or of median point between its historical editorship. We have lots of readers who identify as the latter but not the former. Sometimes they finally notice the leftism (often after years of reading!) and get upset and flounce off. But sometimes they stay? I hope, anyway.
