There are loads of “schools” like this in VA, many dating to the desegregation battles. Although the founding principle is nominally Christian, at its root it is about keeping the lily white kids from being contaminated by those uppity Negros. Consequently, they are far more about indoctrinating students into far right wing ideology than anything most would recognize as “Christian” in any kind of meaningful way. You know, sort of like the Trumpian evangelicals. It is no coincidence that Liberty University is located in the heart of the Old Dominion. They fit right in.

I attended such a school for over a year, and it was horrible. Coincidentally, the one I attended was affiliated with Anita Bryant during her anti-gay hysteria years. My sister had not really explored or expressed her sexuality then, but the vitriol and fear they expressed probably did not help her with that very much.
