Last night my toddler said something to her older sister that was plainly untrue. The older sister said, “She’s lying.”
I responded to my five-year-old (though really as a joke to my spouse), “No, she’s just got alternative facts.”
My spouse pointed out that, in fact, the toddler does have alternative facts. It’s true, she wasn’t lying, she was communicating to us in a way that made sense for her to communicate to us, from her perspective, as someone who inhabits a drastically different inner landscape than we do.
So as long as Conway was insisting Spicer is a toddler, she may be on to something. And now we know why he was wearing that suit.
