This makes no sense. If he made a promise he should never, ever mention it again because the republicans will never bring up that he made that promise if he does is just false.
Of course they’ll bring it up. They’ll bring up things he never said.
Not discussing it sends the message that you think there’s something wrong about the promise you made. That you’re weak. That you’re don’t stand behind your word.
He should never discuss the Infrastructure Bill because that gives them a talking point. See how ridiculous that sounds.
Clearly the responses you’ve gotten show that he has gotten additional credit- not with you - but he’s certainly gotten it.
And of course, anyone paying any attention to politics since the 90s will know the modern GOP is not built for forging compromise across the aisle to solve problems. They are the party of NO and the party of “destroy everyone who is not us”. Treating them like a normal political party is right off the table now. We’ve seen the few Republicans with a spine anymore, and they seem to be in the minority. The old drumbeat of being deferentially to white men won’t work if the white men’s primary goal is to destroy all progress made by the rest of us…
And this is a process that’s been in the works since Gingrich and was pretty much completed when they bent their knees to Trump in 2016…
Well, he was the one who designed , proposed, and tested the Affordable Care Act, which was then approved by Obama. (Which of course instantly made it THE GREAT EVIL in the eyes of republicans everywhere…)
