Kristen Stewart was told to hide her sexuality if she wanted to be in a Marvel movie

I read this elsewhere yesterday and my thoughts on it were: No this wasn’t someone that could get her a role with Marvel/Disney but someone that was in the business and made a nasty comment at her because they were uncomfortable with her sexuality. Not a huge difference but the article title implies that it must’ve been someone from Disney, which i don’t think it is otherwise Stewart would be calling out Disney directly, which she’s not.

I’m particularly baffled by the oft-repeated claim that Hollywood is “anti-gun.”

Queerness in Hollywood is only a plus when it’s being portrayed by a non queer actor.

Then it’s noble as all get out.

Agreed. The Marvel movie was being used as an example of what roles she could be passing up.

Which is nonsense, because half if not more of the Marvel actors all have some moral skeletons in their closets and yet there they are in tights snapping fingers and whatnot.

Yet… yeah, we still live in an age where a star’s girl-on-the-side gets driven to a clinic in the middle of the night by some studio lackey, a young stud is being kept drugged up and ready at a seedy motel, the guy that OD’d in the mansion’s pool was never there…

Kinda boggles the mind that hand-holding would be seen as career-killer in that town.

A lot of celebrities are individually pretty liberal. The corporate culture of the studios is not so much.

No Ms. Stewart…its not about your sexuality. They already have one character made of wood. They don’t need a second.

And a lot are individually pretty conservative. Most of the Hollywood celebrities who transitioned into politics (i.e. Reagan, Ventura, Schwarzenegger, Eastwood, Bono, Trump) have been Republicans, not Democrats.

I thought she was good in this:

“life is literally a popularity contest”? Well being an actor is…

And some actively politically involved celebrities are just plain bat-shit crazy not-of-this-world or extremely conservative/racist…

I keep waiting to learn that Stewart’s career has been an elaborate bet between deranged billionaire brothers who wanted to see if the American public would accept a movie star with negative charisma.

I thought she was awesome in Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium.

Eh, I used to make the Stewart jokes.
I’m now officially ready to give her a break.
I like how straight-forward she seems.

And this is about management - not talent.

My first thought was Tom Holland saying he’d have no problem playing off a gay spiderman. If he’s got no problem, why does the studio? And he’s HUGE! Not that I’d know; he has to wear that damn thong…

I don’t find her to be a compelling actor, but there’s only so much anyone can do with a role like the passive and moody Twilight character. She strikes me as one of those child actors who achieved stardom as a woman but really didn’t like the price you pay for all the money and fame. I think she’s been leaning more toward indy productions and theatre, which will probably make her happier and give her better roles.

Eventually, if they don’t go on to actual successful political careers like Schwarzenger, Eastwood, etc., their whole schtick in the industry becomes “I’m not one of those Hollywood libruls”. After that they just keep upping their “unpopular” views to get attention until they self-destruct (Hollywood being Hollywood, though, they always get second and third and fourth chances – see Mel Gibson).

Yeah, my first question is WHO said this to Stewart? Lots of people say lots of $hitty things. None of it really matters unless it’s a person with some actual influence being the $hitty one.
