“Grooming” with stones? Never heard of, seen, nor read about such a thing in almost 48 years of riding off and on and reading about horses.
Yeah that’s not a thing. Maybe the camp just didn’t provide brushes or curry combs?
…which would make zero sense.
My understanding is that some activities at the camp (Ten Mile River Camp in upstate New York) were seasonal back then, so, the horses may not have even been kept on-site during off-months. That may account for the handler not having brushes there, having forgotten about them, or didn’t stock extra brushes at all — or just not giving a damn, something which could explain this. My horse, Blondie, was just fine, feeding her treats, grooming her, riding her, and just plain enjoying petting her big horsey head and making eye contact. Our trail excursions were set up patrol-by-patrol. Our patrol, six of us, set out single file, with the handler always following us. Blondie was the slowest of the horses, but I didn’t care; I WAS RIDING A HORSE FOR THE FIRST TIME! Then, bam! The handler ("Slow again, Blondie?!) had rushed up and bashed Blondie hard on her rump to make her go faster. This happened whenever Blondie slowed down, about four or five times, and I was really getting pissed with the handler. He wanted us to get friendly with the horses and experience them, great stuff for kids who’ve never ridden a horse, much less just seen in the flesh. Then he turns into Marquis de Sade.
In Montana, we have a more accurate word for people like Greg Gianforte and Kristi Noem: posers. Real hunters, real gun enthusiasts, real bird dog owners – “real Americans”, to use a phrase so often invoked by the Republican party – know that politicians like Gianforte and Noem are phoneys. They’re trying to create fake versions of themselves to publicly demonstrate their capacity for cruelty and extremism without being bothered by any responsibility or morality.
Hannity interviewed her to give her the opportunity to set the record sttaight.
She has a new excuse.
because the truth of this story is that this was a working dog and it was not a puppy.
It was a dog that was extremely dangerous. It had come to us from a family who found her way too aggressive. We were her second chance and she was — the day she was put down was a day that she massacred livestock that were a part of our neighbors, she attacked me and it was a hard decision.
I hope a 2nd edition never comes out made even more shitty with her latest excuse.
No matter how she tries to writhe away, she will always be a puppy murderer.
