Yeah, that’s my exact feeling. The US seems to have a greater tendency to produce individual talent. And then I think of rap and country music where the US is clearly dominant over the UK. Sure, there have been plenty of big name groups over the years, but I think it’s predominantly individuals. America certainly has a greater culture of individualism, and I imagine this is just the effect of that culture.

John Cale was, but I don’t think that stops the Velvet Underground from being an American band. I mean, it’s just one person, and not the front person.
