I haven’t worked in retail for many, many years… but back in the day, store management would have been dealing with this the instant they heard the first scream instead of just letting it play out and hoping that no damage would be done to people or property.
Of course I only saw the first two vids so I don’t know what happened later, but a manager should have popped out of the office in the first 10 seconds of video one.

Yes, good point. I also haven’t had a “front facing” job in a while, but thinking back, this would never have gone on as long as it did in any of those jobs (restaurants, retail, nursing home…).
It’s kind of telling of how fucked up things have gotten that other customers in the video continue shopping and checking out amidst all this. Not throwing shade on them, but just, how far have we let our societal compass slide, that we just kind of take something like this in stride…? Yikes.
ETA: and then that the one shopper who does take an interest, tells the Black woman to walk away…yikes again. Shit.

Agreed; I also worked retail in a mall untold years ago, and I cannot think of a single manager that I ever had who would have let that shit play out for as long as it did.
Also, that cop’s weak-ass excuse that they don’t have jurisdiction in the mall over mall security is complete bullshit.
Maybe on top of White supremacy, this also had something to do with ‘viral culture’ - people tolerating and even passively facilitating such bad behavior because it draws attention.

I disliked that place long before I got fat. I tried & tried on their stuff for years, and found only one bra that fit me, and the knock-offs I got years later were even better.
I’m willing to throw shade on the other customers. They’re akin to those who step over homeless folks on sidewalks. They each have their own little white bubble, and will brook no unwanted intrusion. Ignore it and it will go away. As an extra-unpleasant bonus, the ones telling the victim to leave are evil.
Everywhere I’ve worked, had a customer similiarly misbehaved, then thrown a fit worthy only of a 2-yr-o, a manager or employee would have immediately called security and/or cops. Our customers would have told karen where to go, and once cell phones happened, they’d’ve also been filming and/or calling the cops.

Clearly nobody in the store alerted security until way too late. The filmer was correct to continue recording in her own defense, and courageous not to just walk away.
