I don’t like most of those Republican Presidents either, but I appreciate that W’s dad had the decency and respect for rule of law to step down peaceably when he didn’t win re-election.

That’s a pretty low bar for decency and respect, though, especially considering how shady his first election was.

The lowest. Yet still a hurdle the last guy couldn’t handle.

U.S. Republicans are just amazing. When the Democrats have control they do everything possible to ensure that nothing positive can get done…

…and when in control, ensure that everything negative can get done.

The fact that they have any kind of success at all is kind of frightening.

I hope this is also another indication that they’re bloody desperate. That they know their white supremacist, pro-billionaire cult is sinking.

They do look willing though to take the whole country down with them, so I hope Dems have been getting plenty of lifeboats ready.

To sum up the Republican position:

Here we may reign secure, and in my choyce
To reign is worth ambition though in Hell:
Better to reign in Hell, then serve in Heav’n

And yes, I know I am quoting Satan here. That is a conscious choice.

Comparing the Republicans to Satan is incredibly disrespectful…

…to Lucifer.

And most especially the Senate. That institution is proving to be completely fvcking worthless and needs to be recalibrated.

Roger that.

How bout eliminated?

I mean, for a place as sparsely populated as Montana to have the same amount of power and representation in it as say, California… :flushed:

That ain’t democratic.

(I know, eliminating it is just a dream, but still, a dream worth having!)

IF β€” and that’s a big if β€” the House was allowed to expand to properly represent their constituents, the Senate wouldn’t bother me as much.

The original compromise wasn’t bad, it’s just that now a Rep from a major metropolitan area has a larger constituency than all of the original 13 colonies, whereas we have a number of states whose numbers reflect the state of the union 245 years ago.
