So, if you correct our population for race, we’re not as much of an outlier as it’d otherwise appear. Now, I say that not to minimize the issue but to focus the issue as to where it would be. I’m pretty sure the Constitution doesn’t have specific instructions calling for extrajudicial firing squads. But the real weirdness here is the JESUS GUNS BABIES message to the right of the stage.
I mean, I can’t speak with 100% certainty what Jesus would do if he came back today but I have a really hard time picturing him shooting a bunch of infants.
40% of Republican adults said that they believe teachers can influence students’ sexuality and gender identity, according to a new Morning Consult poll. Only 27% of Democrats and 29% of independents agreed.
Respondents were more likely in the poll to say that teachers can affect students’ academic performance, social skills, intelligence, values, and even religious views, but the alarmingly large number who believe that sexual orientation and gender identity are learned at school may be why so many Republican parents don’t want LGBTQ people to work with children.
The survey found that 31% of Republican parents are “uncomfortable” with LGBTQ people working with their kids, and another 13% had no opinion. Slightly over half – 57% – said they were “comfortable” with LGBTQ people working with their children.
Do I want to know what percentage would be willing to homeschool their children if they’re so concerned about what their children are exposed to in school? Oh, right. That requires a lot of skill and hard work, so instead they want to force everyone else to conform to their beliefs.
It’s almost like it was their goal all along, forcing all of us to conform to their bigoted world-view… but that can’t be right… I mean, they’re always talking about freedumbs, right? /s
